Important information for referring physicians

As of July 1st, 2023, in an effort to streamline access to Washington University Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, we have dropped the requirement of a pediatrician referral. If you or a guardian thinks a child requires outpatient psychiatric care, that family can call us directly at 314-286-1700. If we have availability within 3-4 months, they will be scheduled with one of our providers. If no availability exists within this timeframe, we will direct them to other community providers. No other part of our quality control services will change with this process, including returning the care of this patient to you, if appropriate.

Should you wish to make a referral still, you can do this in EPIC. There will be three questions in a check box format.

This does not apply for referrals to our Autism Clinical Center. Because the waitlist is tied to state monitoring of evaluations in the clinic, we continue to require a referral for this service, Word and PDF versions below:

Health insurance plans

Washington University Physicians, the clinical practice group of Washington University School of Medicine, participates in several health insurance plans.

If you or the family you refer has questions about whether or not our providers participate in their specific health insurance plan, please feel free to contact us at 314-286-1700.
