The Washington Early Recognition Center (WERC) originated in January 2020, and it is the only clinical service in the St. Louis region specializing in the comprehensive mental health care of adolescents and young adults (aged 13-25 years) recently diagnosed with a psychotic disorder (schizophrenia and certain types of bipolar disorder) or who are experiencing early signs of psychosis. WERC offers a variety of comprehensive services to meet the needs of our patients, including:
- Psychiatric evaluation
- Detailed behavioral assessment
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Medication management
- Group psychotherapy
- Family support and psycho-education
- Case management
- Community outreach
- Research opportunities (brain imaging)
