Denise Wilson graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Southeast Missouri State University. Her first job was as a Probation Officer in Drug Court. She worked there for 13.5 years, discovering a passion for helping people, which led her to earn a Master’s of Social Work from Saint Louis University in 2014. After graduating, she joined the Trauma Response Program in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as a Clinical Coordinator and Therapist.

Her experience working in the behavioral health and criminal justice systems for over 20 years in a variety of areas including juveniles, families, addiction, and adults; has allowed her to gain expertise of serving children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma, the foster care system, substance abuse along with conducting assessments and utilizing community resources which give her the skill set that allows her to be the therapist she is today.

She believes in meeting people where they are and treating everyone with the utmost respect, sensitivity, care, and compassion. Her style combines cognitive-behavioral therapy, utilizing a strength-based and solution-focused approach. She specializes her practice with Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI), Trauma and Grief Component Therapy for Adolescents(TGCT-A), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy(PCIT), and Integrative Treatment for Complex Trauma (ITCT), currently with individuals who are aged 7-17.
